Frank Parker’s Texas Roadhouse Dodge Challenger Top Alcohol Funny Car turned in its best-ever run at the rain delayed NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals, in Reading, Pa.
After qualifying second, behind defending class champion Frank Manzo, Parker’s driver, Marty Nothstein, cranked out a 5.571, 259.99 mph pass to win the first round and set both ends of the team’s record. Ironically, the prolonged rain forced the team to detune the car for the semis. Even with that, the car overpowered the track and shook itself out of the running. The Texas Roadhouse team still stands eighth in national points and first in Division 3. |
